Techneat Irrigation Basket

A new plastic Suction Filter Basket manufactured by Techneat Engineering will enable potato and vegetable growers to extract clear irrigation water from dykes and watercourses, safely and more efficiently. The tough rotational-moulded design and manufacturing process creates a very robust filter basket, capable of withstanding many seasons of repeated use on farms.

In the past even some of the most sophisticated irrigation systems have relied on traditional willow wicker baskets to filter out debris. If the fragile willow is damaged or cracked whilst being dropped into the water, stones or flotsam may be sucked into the pump causing extensive damage and costly disruption of the irrigation schedule during repair.

The Techneat Suction Filter Basket is made from locally-sourced 100% recycled plastic. The shape has been designed with round edges and a smooth profile, for easy movement into and out of the watercourse, along with two large handles moulded into the basket for safe and convenient handling, even when wet and wearing gloves. The pre-formed inlet slots are designed to replicate the size and water flow characteristics of wicker baskets to maintain fast and efficient irrigation.
